MISSION: In  2019 we launched the #ForThePigs campaign aimed at helping rescues through donations and taking REAL action to break the myths and change the narrative surrounding minipigs and pigs as pets. We had a goal of raising $10,000 by December 31, 2019 and surpassed that with the help of our Pig Pals!

In 2021 we're carrying the momentum and continuing the support to aid rescues in their efforts! This year we're also working with our communities to tackle outdated zoning laws, stop bad breeding practices, share educational resources,  and continue to give back to rescues and help the people and pigs who really need it.

Join the OinkBox team & your fellow Pig Pals in the #ForThePigs movement.

Get inspired and take action!

Small Step:

ACTION: DONATE

Rescues are breaking at the seams and rely on donations to keep operations going. We want to raise $10,000 directly for rescues by the end of January 2020. Each donation goes directly to the rescues. OinkBox DOES NOT PROFIT. Donate as an individual, or as a business/organization or company. You don't need to be an OinkBox subscriber, own a pig or even live in the USA. You just need to be passionate about helping pigs. (See how we've raised so far)

Donations help rescues get food, medicine, supplies & equipment, hay/straw, blankets, spay/neuters, hoof & tusk trims, go towards any construction or property maintenance projects.

ACTION: JOIN THE CONVO

Stop bad breeding practices, break the myths and share information to help educate the public. Join Facebook groups, (like the Compassion Collective) and share viable resources to help take down bad breeders that abuse, lie, and sell piglets way too young.

We know not every breeder is bad, but over breeding and misinformation coming from breeders has led to a growing rehoming epidemic plaguing the pig community and rescues and it needs to stop!

BAD BREEDING HURTS US ALL!

Of Inspiration:

ACTION: SHARE YOUR STORY

If you've rescued a pig and want to share their incredible journey with the pig community, send it to us! Stories help shed light on the importance of adopting and giving our curly tailed friends a 2nd and well deserved chance at a life filled with love. They also highlight the amazing work rescues & sanctuaries do day in and day out to help abused, neglected, and unwanted animals.

Send your story to our team with 6-10 pictures (before, after and progress pics are great) and we'll publish it on our website, share on social and in emails.

ACTION: VOLUNTEER

One of the best ways to create appreciation and awareness is volunteering at your local rescue/sanctuary. Volunteers are always needed to help with grounds & maintenance, events, and general care for the animals. Volunteers get 1st hand experience and a small glimpse into what it's like operating a rescue. By volunteering you create bonds with both the people & the animals!

Extra bonus though, who can resist the chance to snuggle and cuddle with so many cute snoots and other animals?

Powerful Shift:

ACTION: TACKLE THE TOUGH ISSUES

Join your local community or create a group to tackle outdated zoning & weight classification laws that force pig parents to surrender and rehome their beloved pigs. You can start in your own city or county making cases to your local government, demanding ordinances lift the ban and update their information correctly to allow pigs as pets.

ACTION: SAVE A PIG! DON'T REHOME OR EVER GET A PIG

Seriously! Pigs are a life long commitment and they are not easy! Most pigs live over 15 years, weigh over 1oolbs and have the temperament & intelligence of a 2 or 3 year old human child. If you're not ready to have a toddler in your life for keeps, DO NOT GET A PIG!

Already got a  pig and looking to rehome? Spare the excuses. Help the rescues out and try everything you can to keep it. Very rarely is there an excuse or circumstance that warrants rehoming. Please do your research, ask for help and guidance 1st to avoid breaking your pig's heart and adding to the overcrowding of rescues. Also, don't be an ass and just abandon or dump your pig.

THINK OF THE COMMITMENT YOU MADE TO YOUR PIG!
