Take action helping rescues, educating the public, and reducing the rehoming rate,
Together we can change the narrative surrounding pigs and better the pig community!
MISSION: As 2019 marks the Year Of The Pig, we’re taking REAL action to break the myths and change the narrative surrounding minipigs and pigs as pets. We're tackling outdated zoning laws, stopping bad breeding, sharing educational resources, giving back to rescues and helping the people and pigs who really need it. Join the OinkBox team & your fellow Pig Pals in the #ForThePigs movement.
ACTION # 1: Rescues are breaking at the seams and rely on donations to keep operations going. We want to raise $10,000 directly for rescues by the end of January 2020. Each donation goes directly to the rescues. OinkBox DOES NOT PROFIT. Donate as an individual, or as a business/organization or company. You don't need to be an OinkBox subscriber, own a pig or even live in the USA. You just need to be passionate about helping pigs. (See how we've raised so far)
Donations help rescues get food, medicine, supplies & equipment, hay/straw, blankets, spay/neuters, hoof & tusk trims, go towards any construction or property maintenance projects.
Need a little extra incentive? We'll be awarding top monthly donors with prizes as well as the top 3 yearly donors with free subscriptions, products and more!
ACTION #2: Stop bad breeding practices, break the myths and share information to help educate the public. Join the Compassion Collective in taking down breeders that abuse, lie and sell piglets way too young. We know not every breeder is bad, but over breeding and misinformation coming from breeders has led to a growing rehoming epidemic plaguing the pig community and rescues.
ACTION #3: Tackle outdated zoning laws forcing pig parents to surrender and rehome their beloved pigs. We're going city by city, county by county, state by state demanding ordinances lift the ban and update their information correctly to allow pigs as pets. We have informational resources, case studies and help available for anyone fighting to keep their pig(s).
Together we can stop the abuse, the neglect, and the misinformation. Together we can help rescues and reduce the rehoming rate. Take action, walk your talk and share with your pig community to make this year #ForThePigs.
Help us raise $10,000 by the end of 2019
Are we crazy to think $10,000 can be raised in a year? NO!
It takes a community and some avid piggy lovers to make a difference. Lucky for us, we know that our Pig Pals are passionate about advocating for our hooved friends. We challenge you to find creative ways to save your change, and make a donation!
We're raising money #ForThePigs that are dumped at rescues/sanctuaries because of their size, left behind, because of human ignorance, surrendered because of outdated zoning laws, given up, because of a move, divorce/separation, and for the pigs that have had their hearts broken for or any of the other excuses people come up with.
So... how will YOU help?
What if you didn't get your expensive cup of coffee 1 day a month, & saved $5 to donate?
What if instead of buying a pig from a breeder, you sponsored a pig from a rescue first? What if you took a few hours to volunteer, instead of binge watching tv all weekend?
What if by making one simple action, you helped a pig get adopted, helped keep a rescue afloat, or made a pig feel at home, loved & wanted?
We can all spare some change to donate monthly, sponsor a pig, or share our time by volunteering and helping rescues! Join us and do it #ForThePigs.
Rescues to Support
We're partnering with rescues and organizations from around the U.S. to help reduce rehoming and find piggies their forever home. These rescues are in desperate need of donations, volunteers, and space. Please consider donating however you can. Even a few hours of volunteer work goes a long way. Over 85% of pet pigs get rehomed because their owners weren't prepared and educated enough about pig life. It costs a rescue over $300 per pig, a year to care for it. Please, educate yourself, get all the facts and help piggies who need a loving a home.
